Undergraduate Students’ Perception of Leadership Development Programs and Leadership Self-Efficacy

Colleges and universities across the United States face continual pressure to meet enrollment retention goals, as budgets in this performance-based environment continue become more important. On-campus student involvement, such undergraduate leadership development programs, has been shown have a positive influence on both success. A survey was utilized examine self-efficacy engagement of students that participated campus-based programs explore some motivators (contributing factors) barriers (detracting involvement those programs. One emergent theme within contributing factors participation alignment with personal goals (74.7%), whereas, for detracting lack time invest opportunity (51.1%). Exploration which contributed detracted from showed were significant predictor self-efficacy. For every one unit increase factors, score increased by β - = .38 standard deviations. This study encourages educators their own build recruitment strategies among demographics male students, non-White first-generation college students.
